Using the site
ChessAnalysis (chessanalysis.dev) offers free chess analysis tools: game review, analysis board, next move calculator, board editor, chess clock and calculators. No account is needed. The site is intended for users aged 13 and over.
Fair play
The tools are for studying finished games and positions. Do not use them, or any information from them, during a game you are playing on any site or over the board. Doing so breaks the rules of chess sites and tournaments, and we may block access for misuse.
Your content
Games and positions you analyze remain yours. You are responsible for having the right to use the games you paste or share. Share pages are public to anyone with the link.
Accuracy of analysis and explanations
Evaluations come from the Stockfish engine at limited depth and can change with deeper analysis. Explanations of mistakes are generated from engine lines by rules and, for some mistakes, by an AI model; they are checked automatically but can still be incomplete or wrong. The site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
Free limits
Engine analysis is unlimited. AI explanations have a daily free limit, and we may pause them when the site's daily budget is reached; you then see the rule-based explanation.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the site, send automated requests to our server, bypass limits, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or use it for anything unlawful.
Third-party sites
Games are fetched from Chess.com and Lichess, which are independent of us and have their own terms. ChessAnalysis is not affiliated with them.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or from relying on its results.
Changes
We may update the site and these terms. The effective date above shows when they last changed.
